Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord; praise him, you servants of the Lord, 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD,
you who stand in the Lord's Temple and in the Temple courtyards. 2 you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God.
Praise the Lord, because he is good; sing praises to him, because it is pleasant. 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
The Lord has chosen the people of Jacob for himself; he has chosen the people of Israel for his very own. 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.
I know that the Lord is great. Our Lord is greater than all the gods. 5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.
The Lord does what he pleases, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and the deep oceans. 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.
He brings the clouds from the ends of the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain. He brings out the wind from his storehouses. 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
He destroyed the firstborn sons in Egypt the firstborn of both people and animals. 8 He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals.
He did many signs and miracles in Egypt against the king and his servants. 9 He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.
He defeated many nations and killed powerful kings: 10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings--
Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kings of Canaan. 11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan--
Then he gave their land as a gift, a gift to his people, the Israelites. 12 and he gave their land as an inheritance, an inheritance to his people Israel.
Lord, your name is everlasting; Lord, you will be remembered forever. 13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
The Lord defends his people and has mercy on his servants. 14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
The idols of other nations are made of silver and gold, the work of human hands. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
They have mouths, but they cannot speak. They have eyes, but they cannot see. 16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
They have ears, but they cannot hear. They have no breath in their mouths. 17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
People who make idols will be like them, and so will those who trust them. 18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
Family of Israel, praise the Lord. Family of Aaron, praise the Lord. 19 O house of Israel, praise the LORD; O house of Aaron, praise the LORD;
Family of Levi, praise the Lord. You who respect the Lord should praise him. 20 O house of Levi, praise the LORD; you who fear him, praise the LORD.
You people of Jerusalem, praise the Lord on Mount Zion. 21 Praise be to the LORD from Zion, to him who dwells in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
