[A Psalm] of David. Blessed [be] the LORD my strength, who teacheth my hands to war, [and] my fingers to fight; 1 Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and [he] in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. 2 He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
LORD, what [is] man, that thou takest knowledge of him! [or] the son of man, that thou makest account of him! 3 O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him?
Man is like to vanity: his days [are] as a shadow that passeth away. 4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.
Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. 5 Part your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke.
Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot thy arrows, and destroy them. 6 Send forth lightning and scatter [the enemies]; shoot your arrows and rout them.
Send thy hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children; 7 Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners
Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand [is] a right hand of falsehood. 8 whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.
I will sing a new song to thee, O God: upon a psaltery [and] an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises to thee. 9 I will sing a new song to you, O God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,
[It is he] that giveth salvation to kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. 10 to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David from the deadly sword.
Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand [is] a right hand of falsehood: 11 Deliver me and rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful.
That our sons [may be] as plants grown up in their youth; [that] our daughters [may be] as corner stones, polished [after] the similitude of a palace: 12 Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.
[That] our granaries [may be] full, affording all manner of store; [that] our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: 13 Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;
[That] our oxen [may be] strong to labor; that [there be] no breaking in, nor going out; that [there be] no complaining in our streets. 14 our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.
Happy [is that] people, that is in such a case: [yes], happy [is that] people, whose God [is] the LORD. 15 Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
