Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety. 1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord; all the good things I have come from you." 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."
How excellent are the Lord's faithful people! My greatest pleasure is to be with them. 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.
Those who rush to other gods bring many troubles on themselves. I will not take part in their sacrifices; I will not worship their gods. 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips.
You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are! 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I praise the Lord, because he guides me, and in the night my conscience warns me. 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
And so I am thankful and glad, and I feel completely secure, 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
because you protect me from the power of death. I have served you faithfully, and you will not abandon me to the world of the dead. 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
