<> Hear, LORD, my righteous plea; Give ear to my prayer, that doesn't go out of deceitful lips. 1 Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer-- it does not rise from deceitful lips.
Let my sentence come forth from your presence; Let your eyes look on equity. 2 May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.
You have proved my heart; you have visited me in the night; You have tried me, and found nothing; I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey. 3 Though you probe my heart and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing; I have resolved that my mouth will not sin.
As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. 4 As for the deeds of men-- by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
My steps have held fast to your paths, My feet have not slipped. 5 My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
I have called on you, for you will answer me, God: Turn your ear to me. Hear my speech. 6 I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show your marvelous lovingkindness, You who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies. 7 Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye; Hide me under the shadow of your wings, 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
From the wicked who oppress me, My deadly enemies, who compass me about. 9 from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.
They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly. 10 They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance.
They have now surrounded us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast us down to the eretz. 11 They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, As it were a young lion lurking in secret places. 12 They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a great lion crouching in cover.
Arise, LORD, Confront him, cast him down. Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword; 13 Rise up, O LORD, confront them, bring them down; rescue me from the wicked by your sword.
From men by your hand, LORD, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, Whose belly you fill with your treasure: They are satisfied with children, Leave the rest of their substance to their babes. 14 O LORD, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life. You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.
As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form. 15 And I--in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
