Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what he has done! 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Each day announces it to the following day; each night repeats it to the next. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
No speech or words are used, no sound is heard; 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
yet their message goes out to all the world and is heard to the ends of the earth. God made a home in the sky for the sun; 4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
it comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom, like an athlete eager to run a race. 5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It starts at one end of the sky and goes across to the other. Nothing can hide from its heat. 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat.
The law of the Lord is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the Lord are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The laws of the Lord are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the Lord are just and give understanding to the mind. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
Reverence for the Lord is good; it will continue forever. The judgments of the Lord are just; they are always fair. 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more desirable than the finest gold; they are sweeter than the purest honey. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
They give knowledge to me, your servant; I am rewarded for obeying them. 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
None of us can see our own errors; deliver me, Lord, from hidden faults! 12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep me safe, also, from willful sins; don't let them rule over me. Then I shall be perfect and free from the evil of sin. 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
May my words and my thoughts be acceptable to you, O Lord, my refuge and my redeemer! 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
