American Standard Version (ASV) New International Version (NIV)
I will extol thee, O Jehovah; For thou hast raised me up, And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 1 I will exalt you, O LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
O Jehovah my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 2 O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.
O Jehovah, thou hast brought up my soul from Sheol; Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 3 O LORD, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit.
Sing praise unto Jehovah, O ye saints of his, And give thanks to his holy memorial [name]. 4 Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a life-time: Weeping may tarry for the night, But joy [cometh] in the morning. 5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved. 6 When I felt secure, I said, "I will never be shaken."
Thou, Jehovah, of thy favor hadst made my mountain to stand strong: Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled. 7 O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
I cried to thee, O Jehovah; And unto Jehovah I made supplication: 8 To you, O LORD, I called; to the Lord I cried for mercy:
What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? 9 "What gain is there in my destruction, in my going down into the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
Hear, O Jehovah, and have mercy upon me: Jehovah, be thou my helper. 10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help."
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
