Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts; there is no fear of God before their eyes. 1 An oracle is within my heart concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For they flatter themselves in their own eyes that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated. 2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.
The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit; they have ceased to act wisely and do good. 3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.
They plot mischief while on their beds; they are set on a way that is not good; they do not reject evil. 4 Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong.
Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; you save humans and animals alike, O Lord. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 7 How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your salvation to the upright of heart! 10 Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Do not let the foot of the arrogant tread on me, or the hand of the wicked drive me away. 11 May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the evildoers lie prostrate; they are thrust down, unable to rise. 12 See how the evildoers lie fallen-- thrown down, not able to rise!
