Hebrew Names Version (HNV) New International Version (NIV)
<> I waited patiently for the LORD. He turned to me, and heard my cry. 1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, And doesn't respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, LORD, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, And your thoughts which are toward us. They can't be set in order to you; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
Sacrifice and offering you didn't desire. My ears have you opened: Burnt offering and sin offering have you not required. 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
Then I said, "Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll.
I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart." 8 I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know. 9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD.
I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your lovingkindness and your truth from the great assembly. 10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.
Don't withhold your tender mercies from me, LORD. Let your lovingkindness and your truth continually preserve me. 11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.
For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me. 12 For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.
Be pleased, LORD, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, LORD. 13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me; O LORD, come quickly to help me.
Let them be put to shame and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt. 14 May all who seek to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that tell me, "Aha! Aha!" 15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!" be appalled at their own shame.
Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, "Let the LORD be exalted!" 16 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, "The LORD be exalted!"
But I am poor and needy; May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don't delay, my God. 17 Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay.
