New American Standard (NAS) New International Version (NIV)
How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble. 1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
The LORD will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. 2 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
The LORD will sustain him upon his sickbed ; In his illness, You restore him to health . 3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
As for me, I said, "O LORD , be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You." 4 I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you."
My enemies speak evil against me, "When will he die, and his name perish?" 5 My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?"
And when he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; His heart gathers wickedness to itself; When he goes outside, he tells it. 6 Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it abroad.
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt, saying, 7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,
"A wicked thing is poured out upon him, That when he lies down, he will not rise up again." 8 "A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up from the place where he lies."
Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. 9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But You, O LORD , be gracious to me and raise me up, That I may repay them. 10 But you, O LORD, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that You are pleased with me, Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me. 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And You set me in Your presence forever. 12 In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.
Blessed be the LORD , the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen. 13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
