New King James Version (NKJV) New International Version (NIV)
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. 1 Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. 2 The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.
The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed. 3 The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
I said, "Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You." 4 I said, "O LORD, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you."
My enemies speak evil of me: "When will he die, and his name perish?" 5 My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?"
And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it. 6 Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it abroad.
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt. 7 All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,
"An evil disease," they say, "clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more." 8 "A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up from the place where he lies."
Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me. 9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them. 10 But you, O LORD, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me. 11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever. 12 In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen. 13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
