| 1 To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. | 1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing. |
| 2 Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for to thee will I pray. | 2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. |
| 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct [my prayer] to thee, and will look up. | 3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. |
| 4 For thou [art] not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. | 4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell. |
| 5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. | 5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong. |
| 6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak falsehood: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. | 6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors. |
| 7 But as for me, I will come [into] thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: [and] in thy fear will I worship towards thy holy temple. | 7 But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple. |
| 8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness, because of my enemies; make thy way straight before my face. | 8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me. |
| 9 For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part [is] very wickedness; their throat [is] an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue. | 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit. |
| 10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. | 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. |
| 11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. | 11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. |
| 12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as [with] a shield. | 12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. |
