Young's Literal Translation (YLT) New International Version (NIV)
To the Overseer with stringed instruments, on the octave. -- A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, in Thine anger reprove me not, Nor in Thy fury chastise me. 1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
Favour me, O Jehovah, for I [am] weak, Heal me, O Jehovah, For troubled have been my bones, 2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.
And my soul hath been troubled greatly, And Thou, O Jehovah, till when? 3 My soul is in anguish. How long, O LORD, how long?
Turn back, O Jehovah, draw out my soul, Save me for Thy kindness' sake. 4 Turn, O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
For there is not in death Thy memorial, In Sheol, who doth give thanks to Thee? 5 No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave ?
I have been weary with my sighing, I meditate through all the night [on] my bed, With my tear my couch I waste. 6 I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
Old from provocation is mine eye, It is old because of all mine adversaries, 7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.
Turn from me all ye workers of iniquity, For Jehovah heard the voice of my weeping, 8 Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
Jehovah hath heard my supplication, Jehovah my prayer receiveth. 9 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
Ashamed and troubled greatly are all mine enemies, They turn back -- ashamed [in] a moment! 10 All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.
