You who live in the shelter of 'Elyon, who spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai, 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
who say to ADONAI, "My refuge! My fortress! My God, in whom I trust!" 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
he will rescue you from the trap of the hunter and from the plague of calamities; 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence.
he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his truth is a shield and protection. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terrors of night or the arrow that flies by day, 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
or the plague that roams in the dark, or the scourge that wreaks havoc at noon. 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand; but it won't come near you. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Only keep your eyes open, and you will see how the wicked are punished. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
For you have made ADONAI, the Most High, who is my refuge, your dwelling-place. 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge--
No disaster will happen to you, no calamity will come near your tent; 10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
for he will order his angels to care for you and guard you wherever you go. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
They will carry you in their hands, so that you won't trip on a stone. 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread down lions and snakes, young lions and serpents you will trample underfoot. 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
"Because he loves me, I will rescue him; because he knows my name, I will protect him. 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation." 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
