| 1 (93-1) The Lord is the God to whom revenge belongeth: the God of revenge hath acted freely. | 1 O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth. |
| 2 (93-2) Lift up thyself, thou that judgest the earth: render a reward to the proud. | 2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve. |
| 3 (93-3) How long shall sinners, O Lord: how long shall sinners glory? | 3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant? |
| 4 (93-4) Shall they utter, and speak iniquity: shall all speak who work injustice? | 4 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting. |
| 5 (93-5) Thy people, O Lord, they have brought low: and they have afflicted thy inheritance. | 5 They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance. |
| 6 (93-6) They have slain the widow and the stranger: and they have murdered the fatherless. | 6 They slay the widow and the alien; they murder the fatherless. |
| 7 (93-7) And they have said: The Lord shall not see: neither shall the God of Jacob understand. | 7 They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed." |
| 8 (93-8) Understand, ye senseless among the people: and, you fools, be wise at last. | 8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise? |
| 9 (93-9) He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that formed the eye, doth he not consider? | 9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? |
| 10 (93-10) He that chastiseth nations, shall he not rebuke: he that teacheth man knowledge? | 10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge? |
| 11 (93-11) The Lord knoweth the thoughts of men, that they are vain. | 11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile. |
| 12 (93-12) Blessed is the man whom thou shalt instruct, O Lord: and shalt teach him out of thy law. | 12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law; |
| 13 (93-13) That thou mayst give him rest from the evil days: till a pit be dug for the wicked. | 13 you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked. |
| 14 (93-14) For the Lord will not cast off his people: neither will he forsake his own inheritance. | 14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. |
| 15 (93-15) Until justice be turned into judgment: and they that are near it are all the upright in heart. | 15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it. |
| 16 (93-16) Who shall rise up for me against the evildoers? or who shall stand with me against the workers of iniquity? | 16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? |
| 17 (93-17) Unless the Lord had been my helper, my soul had almost dwelt in hell. | 17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. |
| 18 (93-18) If I said: My foot is moved: thy mercy, O Lord, assisted me. | 18 When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. |
| 19 (93-19) According to the multitude of my sorrows in my heart, thy comforts have given joy to my soul. | 19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. |
| 20 (93-20) Doth the seat of iniquity stick to thee, who framest labour in commandment? | 20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you-- one that brings on misery by its decrees? |
| 21 (93-21) They will hunt after the soul of the just, and will condemn innocent blood. | 21 They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. |
| 22 (93-22) But the Lord is my refuge: and my God the help of my hope. | 22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. |
| 23 (93-23) And he will render them their iniquity:and in their malice he will destroy them: the Lord our God will destroy them. | 23 He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them. |
