(97-1) <A psalm for David himself.> Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. His right hand hath wrought for him salvation, and his arm is holy. 1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
(97-2) The Lord hath made known his salvation: he hath revealed his justice in the sight of the Gentiles. 2 The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
(97-3) He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
(97-4) Sing joyfully to God, all the earth; make melody, rejoice and sing. 4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;
(97-5) Sing praise to the Lord on the harp, on the harp, and with the voice of a psalm: 5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing,
(97-6) With long trumpets, and sound of cornet. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king: 6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn-- shout for joy before the LORD, the King.
(97-7) Let the sea be moved and the fullness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein. 7 Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
(97-8) The rivers shall clap their hands, the mountains shall rejoice together 8 Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;
(97-9) At the presence of the Lord: because he cometh to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with justice, and the people with equity. 9 let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.
