1 Or gli apostoli e i fratelli che erano per la Giudea, intesero che i Gentili aveano anch’essi ricevuto la parola di Dio.

2 E quando Pietro fu salito a Gerusalemme, quelli della circoncisione questionavano con lui, dicendo:

3 Tu sei entrato da uomini incirconcisi, e hai mangiato con loro.

4 Ma Pietro prese a raccontar loro le cose per ordine fin dal principio, dicendo:

5 Io ero nella città di Ioppe in preghiera, ed in un’estasi, ebbi una visione; una certa cosa simile a un gran lenzuolo tenuto per i quattro capi, scendeva giù dal cielo, e veniva fino a me;

6 ed io, fissatolo, lo considerai bene, e vidi i quadrupedi della terra, le fiere, i rettili, e gli uccelli del cielo.

7 E udii anche una voce che mi diceva: Pietro, lèvati, ammazza e mangia.

8 Ma io dissi: In niun modo, Signore; poiché nulla d’immondo o di contaminato mi è mai entrato in bocca.

1 The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him

3 and said, “You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.”

4 Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story:

5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was.

6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds.

7 Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.’

8 “I replied, ‘Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
