View In My Bible
55 In the night I remember1 your name, O LORD, and I will keep your law.2 56 This has been my practice: I obey your precepts.3

57 You are my portion,4 O LORD; I have promised to obey your words.5 58 I have sought6 your face with all my heart; be gracious to me7 according to your promise.8 59 I have considered my ways9 and have turned my steps to your statutes. 60 I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.10 61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget11 your law. 62 At midnight12 I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws.13 63 I am a friend to all who fear you,14 to all who follow your precepts.15 64 The earth is filled with your love,16 O LORD; teach me your decrees.17

65 Do good18 to your servant according to your word,19 O LORD. 66 Teach me knowledge20 and good judgment, for I believe in your commands. 67 Before I was afflicted21 I went astray,22 but now I obey your word.23 68 You are good,24 and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.25 69 Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,26 I keep your precepts with all my heart. 70 Their hearts are callous27 and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. 71 It was good for me to be afflicted28 so that I might learn your decrees. 72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.29

73 Your hands made me30 and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. 74 May those who fear you rejoice31 when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.32 75 I know, O LORD, that your laws are righteous,33 and in faithfulness34 you have afflicted me. 76 May your unfailing love35 be my comfort, according to your promise36 to your servant. 77 Let your compassion37 come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight.38 78 May the arrogant39 be put to shame for wronging me without cause;40 but I will meditate on your precepts. 79 May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes.41 80 May my heart be blameless42 toward your decrees,43 that I may not be put to shame.44

81 My soul faints45 with longing for your salvation,46 but I have put my hope47 in your word. 82 My eyes fail,48 looking for your promise;49 I say, "When will you comfort me?" 83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget50 your decrees. 84 How long51 must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors?52 85 The arrogant53 dig pitfalls54 for me, contrary to your law. 86 All your commands are trustworthy;55 help me,56 for men persecute me57 without cause.58 87 They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken59 your precepts. 88 Preserve my life60 according to your love,61 and I will obey the statutes62 of your mouth.

89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal;63 it stands firm in the heavens. 90 Your faithfulness64 continues through all generations;65 you established the earth, and it endures.66 91 Your laws endure67 to this day, for all things serve you.68 92 If your law had not been my delight,69 I would have perished in my affliction.70 93 I will never forget71 your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.72 94 Save me,73 for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts.74 95 The wicked are waiting to destroy me,75 but I will ponder your statutes.76 96 To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.77

97 Oh, how I love your law!78 I meditate79 on it all day long. 98 Your commands make me wiser80 than my enemies, for they are ever with me. 99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.81 100 I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.82 101 I have kept my feet83 from every evil path so that I might obey your word.84 102 I have not departed from your laws,85 for you yourself have taught86 me. 103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey87 to my mouth!88 104 I gain understanding89 from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.90

105 Your word is a lamp91 to my feet and a light92 for my path. 106 I have taken an oath93 and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.94 107 I have suffered much; preserve my life,95 O LORD, according to your word. 108 Accept, O LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,96 and teach me your laws.97 109 Though I constantly take my life in my hands,98 I will not forget99 your law. 110 The wicked have set a snare100 for me, but I have not strayed101 from your precepts. 111 Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.102 112 My heart is set103 on keeping your decrees to the very end.104

113 I hate double-minded men,105 but I love your law.106 114 You are my refuge and my shield;107 I have put my hope108 in your word. 115 Away from me,109 you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! 116 Sustain me110 according to your promise,111 and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.112 117 Uphold me,113 and I will be delivered;114 I will always have regard for your decrees.115 118 You reject all who stray116 from your decrees, for their deceitfulness is in vain. 119 All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross;117 therefore I love your statutes.118 120 My flesh trembles119 in fear of you;120 I stand in awe121 of your laws.

121 I have done what is righteous and just;122 do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Ensure your servant's well-being;123 let not the arrogant oppress me.124 123 My eyes fail,125 looking for your salvation,126 looking for your righteous promise.127 124 Deal with your servant according to your love128 and teach me your decrees.129 125 I am your servant;130 give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.131 126 It is time for you to act, O LORD; your law is being broken.132 127 Because I love your commands133 more than gold,134 more than pure gold,135
