I waited patiently1 for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.22
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,3 out of the mud4 and mire;5 he set my feet6 on a rock7 and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song8 in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD9 and put their trust10 in him.
Blessed are those11 who make the LORD their trust,12 who do not look to the proud,13 to those who turn aside to false gods.a145
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders15 you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare16 with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many17 to declare.
Sacrifice and offering you did not desire--18 but my ears you have openedb--19 burnt offerings20 and sin offeringsc you did not require.
Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll.d218
I desire to do your will,22 my God;23 your law is within my heart."249
I proclaim your saving acts25 in the great assembly;26 I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know.2710
I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness28 and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.2911
Do not withhold your mercy30 from me, LORD; may your love31 and faithfulness32 always protect33 me.
For troubles34 without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.35 They are more than the hairs of my head,36 and my heart fails37 within me.
Be pleased to save me, LORD; come quickly, LORD, to help me.3814
May all who seek to take my life39 be put to shame and confusion;40 may all who desire my ruin41 be turned back in disgrace.
May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"42 be appalled at their own shame.
But may all who seek you43 rejoice and be glad44 in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, "The LORD is great!"4517
But as for me, I am poor and needy;46 may the Lord think47 of me. You are my help48 and my deliverer;49 you are my God, do not delay.50
