Acts 19:1-7

When we, as Christians, ignore the Holy Spirit’s promptings, we end up without any passion in our lives, and with no direction. God has gifts for us that we don’t want to miss out on, but it takes diligence and focus to unwrap all that He has for our lives.

We don’t have to do Christianity alone. When the Holy Spirit comes upon us, He will never leave us alone or let us down. The Holy Spirit drives us, motivates us, and reveals to us our need for His guidance.

Before we received Christ, God began to intensify the emptiness within our hearts. The need to pursue Him grew deeper and deeper inside our minds. In the same way, once we receive the Holy Spirit, He begins to reveal Himself to us, prompting us towards a vision, or by creating a ministry for us wherever there is a need.

Our salvation through Jesus Christ is a one-time life changing event. But, we’ll still need the continual refreshing of the Holy Spirit’s power, both in our lives, and for our Christian ministry.

When we receive a gift normally we can’t wait to open it and use it!  But today on Sound Doctrine we’ll learn that God has a gift He wants His children to receive… but very sadly many haven’t!  It’s the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.   And we desperately need this to thrive and be all that God wants us to be.  

Imagine trying to drive a car with no fuel!  You’re not going to get anywhere right?  Today on Sound Doctrine we discover that the Holy Spirit is the steam that drives the engine of our lives.  Without His power, we simply can’t succeed in life. Pastor Jeff Johnson opens Acts chapter nineteen today and has us consider whether or not we’ve experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
