8 Helpful Verses for When You Don't Know What to Do

January 28, 2021

If there has ever been a time in our world when it is difficult to know what to do, the time is now. Some say stand up and shout, others say wait with perseverance. Some wave patriotic flags, some raise social justice agendas. While I’m sure all mean well, I often find myself in a place of decision. What should I do? Where do I stand? When should I speak up and when should I stay silent?

While I know you are already forming your own responses to those loaded questions, the Bible offers great help for all of us no matter where we stand. When we don’t know exactly what to do or how to go about standing up for truth, here are few places we can begin.

7 Psalms of Hope for When the Holidays Hurt

7 Psalms of Hope for When the Holidays Hurt

November 21, 2020

The holidays can be one of the most joyous times of the year, but also the most grievous. If you have experienced the loss of a loved one, you know the deep struggle that lives in the heart to rejoice yet grieve the loss. You want to celebrate the Savior’s birth, but you also live with the harsh reality of an empty chair at the dining room table. There are remembrances in every moment that lead you to wrestle with how to enjoy the holidays while still honoring the lives of those you love and hold so near to your heart.

Today I want to offer you seven Psalms that will encourage your heart if the struggle is strong. It’s not wrong to feel deeply and grieve. This is the way God designed us. The deeper the love, the deeper the loss. But there is a place to find peace and to live comforted through God’s Word. Let’s begin in Psalms 3.

7 Psalms to Pray When You Feel Thankful

7 Psalms to Pray When You Feel Thankful

June 19, 2020

There are days I wake up and feel an overwhelming gratefulness in my heart for all God has done and is doing in my life. Then there are days when it’s hard to see God’s hand. I want to be thankful, but it’s a little harder to trace exactly what He’s up to.

No matter what we go through, there is a key to living a happy life. It’s living with a thankful heart no matter what circumstances come your way. Sometimes it’s hard to thank God in the hard times. We feel more like begging Him for relief and answers.

I’m learning if I can turn the cry of my heart into prayers of thanksgiving, I can walk through the hard days with a heart that receives comfort and eyes that look for God’s goodness in pain. There are seven psalms that I love to go to that remind me to thank God no matter what. Each one gives me words to pray that turn my heart toward thankfulness even when I don’t feel so thankful.

How Can We Have Peace in the Midst of Coronavirus Chaos?

How Can We Have Peace in the Midst of Coronavirus Chaos?

May 22, 2020

It’s times like these that our faith is put to the test. We are forced to practice what we preach or throw up our hands and join the complaining, the doomsday talking, the fear, the chaos. What if we could walk through this difficult struggle with peace?

There is a way.

But it’s not easy. The reality we face is tough. Parents are forced to make tough decisions about working hours and schooling children. The peer pressure to keep kids stimulated and educated is hot and heavy. The countless daytime schedules circulating social media is overwhelming. The grocery stores can’t keep up with the demand – and some are stockpiling everything they can think of, just in case. This leaves many without. We are living in a situation we’ve never found ourselves in before. The challenges are bigger than we know how to handle.

But there is one thing we can do.
