A New Prayer, for a New Season

A New Prayer, for a New Season

It was a new road, with potholes I was unfamiliar with. Residents of the North know the pattern of potholes which appear in the same places; they can swallow a tire whole. It’s helpful to know where they are and what to look for as the seasons change, with ice thawing and the salt washing off of the roads. My oldest daughter just entered high school this year, and I feel like this season is akin to road full of new potholes and my wheels are getting swallowed up whole one at a time until I can’t drive anymore. It feels like all the work I’ve done as a parent in the last fourteen years has come to a screeching halt, like a car that just hit every pothole and now is literally stuck and stalled out.

Show me how to act in Love in hard moments.

I am not afraid. I will not fear. You are my ROCK, LORD, and SAVIOR.

Stretch and grow my belief.

Speak to and reveal Yourself to me. I am your witness. Remind me of Your power.

Thank You for Your powerful presence in my life!

I live by believing, not seeing (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Increase my faith, patience, and perseverance.

Don’t let me miss a moment, God.

Remind me to choose to see the good, to look through the lens of love, which is Your heavenly perspective. Fill me with it as only You can.

Thank You for Your daily dose of mercy and faithfulness.

Thank You for the seasons of purpose You have knit into my life so purposefully, and thank You for all of the people You have placed in my life, especially my daughters.

I love You, Lord.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
