When Fear Attacks, Do These 4 Things First

The onus to carry out his promise is on God himself. If he has said it, he will do it. This is what you can depend on so when fear attacks grab a promise and hold on to it. Know that God will fulfill what he has said.

The final thing you need to do when fear attacks you is run to and grab the altar. The altar in this case represents the presence of God. You cannot overcome fear without spending time in the presence of God. In his presence is where God does the work on the inner part of you – giving you strength and resolve to face whatever you need to face. Here is what God does when you get into his presence.

- He reverses your sadness and replaces it with joy.

- He reverses your anxiety and worry and replaces it with peace.

- He reverses your impending doom and replaces it with a heart filled with hope.

- He reverses the darkness of despair and replaces it with the light of life and purpose.

The truth is God has no desire for you to walk around fearful or worried at all. When he is in your corner and for you, you don’t have to be afraid. When you get into his presence this not only becomes a place of refuge, it becomes a place of rest. The need for worry disappears because God becomes your resting place.

When you have done these four things when fear attacks, you are now positioned to face your fear. You have dealt with what is inside you, the inner me, and now you can deal with the enemy or the thing that is causing you fear.

I will let you know this is a process and it may require that you revisit these four things on multiple occasions. The good news is that you have an open invitation to God’s presence, and he wants you to come so make sure you take him up on his invitation. If you will, then God will give you everything you need to help you stand strong when fear attacks.
