In verses 6–7, Isaiah compares this judgment to a great sacrifice of many lambs and goats (people), together with oxen and bulls (leaders). This judgment will be a day of vengeance, when the Lord punishes all unrighteousness and godlessness149 (verse 8).

16–17 After God’s judgment falls on Edom (the nations), people will read in the scroll what Isaiah has written here and realize his words were true. None of these—that is, the birds and animals mentioned in verses 11–15—will be missing (verse 16); the prophecy will come true exactly as Isaiah has stated it. God will give all these creatures permanent ownership of the land of Edom (verse 17).
