3:14 Was it right for David to take another man’s wife to make her his own? Michal was already David’s wife, and he had the right to take action to be reunited with her. Years before, he had paid for and exercised the right to marry her (1Sm 18:25-27). They had never been divorced; Saul had forced David to flee from his home and had given Michal to another man. David’s wife was thus forced into the awkward situation of being married to two men at the same time. David’s actions here were a stern but justifiable effort to put an end to the wrong done to Michal and to him.
