TWISTED SCRIPTURE | Ezekiel 37:15-17 |
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe these verses are a foretelling of the Book of Mormon. They argue the two sticks represent the Bible and the Book of Mormon and, eventually, the two will be united to become one piece of revelatory information about Jesus. This passage, however, is not speaking to the Bible or the Book of Mormon and is therefore contrary to Latter-day Saint belief. Contextually, these verses are part of a larger argument the Lord is making to Ezekiel about the national reunification of Israel. The two sticks, representing the house of Judah and the house of Joseph, or the southern and northern kingdoms, are joined together symbolically to show the eventual reunification of Israel as one nation.
