Proverbs 13:1-9

Listen to Proverbs 13:1-9
A wise son [hears his] father's instruction, but a mocker doesn't listen to rebuke.
From the words of his mouth, a man will enjoy good things, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.[a]
The one who guards his mouth protects his life; the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.[b]
The slacker craves, yet has nothing, but the diligent is fully satisfied.[c]
The righteous hate lying, but the wicked act disgustingly and disgracefully.
Righteousness guards people of integrity,[d] but wickedness undermines the sinner.[e]
One man pretends to be rich but has nothing; another pretends to be poor but has great wealth.[f]
Riches are a ransom for a man's life,[g] but a poor man hears no threat.
The light of the righteous shines brightly,[h] but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.[i]
