18 以 東 王 說 ： 你 不 可 從 我 的 地 經 過 ， 免 得 我 帶 刀 出 去 攻 擊 你 。

Numbers 20:18

And Edom said unto him
The king of Edom replied to Israel, represented by the messengers sent in their name:

thou shall not pass by me;
through my country:

lest I come out against thee with the sword;
or with those that use the sword, as the Targums of Onkelos and Jonathan; that is, with an army of soldiers with their drawn swords in their hands, to slay them as enemies.

16 我 們 哀 求 耶 和 華 的 時 候 ， 他 聽 了 我 們 的 聲 音 ， 差 遣 使 者 把 我 們 從 埃 及 領 出 來 。 這 事 你 都 知 道 。 如 今 ， 我 們 在 你 邊 界 上 的 城 加 低 斯 。

17 求 你 容 我 們 從 你 的 地 經 過 。 我 們 不 走 田 間 和 葡 萄 園 ， 也 不 喝 井 裡 的 水 ， 只 走 大 道 （ 原 文 作 王 道 ） ， 不 偏 左 右 ， 直 到 過 了 你 的 境 界 。

19 以 色 列 人 說 ： 我 們 要 走 大 道 上 去 ； 我 們 和 牲 畜 若 喝 你 的 水 ， 必 給 你 價 值 。 不 求 別 的 ， 只 求 你 容 我 們 步 行 過 去 。

20 以 東 王 說 ： 你 們 不 可 經 過 ！ 就 率 領 許 多 人 出 來 ， 要 用 強 硬 的 手 攻 擊 以 色 列 人 。
