And it was told Joab
When returned to Mahanaim, or on his way to it; perhaps by the messengers he sent; and this report he had before he saw the king:

behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom;
for the death of him, instead of rejoicing at the victory obtained, and the deliverance from his enemies.

2 眾 民 聽 說 王 為 他 兒 子 憂 愁 ， 他 們 得 勝 的 歡 樂 卻 變 成 悲 哀 。

3 那 日 眾 民 暗 暗 地 進 城 ， 就 如 敗 陣 逃 跑 、 慚 愧 的 民 一 般 。

4 王 蒙 著 臉 ， 大 聲 哭 號 說 ： 我 兒 押 沙 龍 啊 ！ 押 沙 龍 ， 我 兒 ， 我 兒 啊 ！

5 約 押 進 去 見 王 ， 說 ： 你 今 日 使 你 一 切 僕 人 臉 面 慚 愧 了 ！ 他 們 今 日 救 了 你 的 性 命 和 你 兒 女 妻 妾 的 性 命 ，
