1 Samuel 17:19

Now Saul, and they
That is, the sons of Jesse, and brethren of David:

and all the men of Israel;
the soldiers in the army:

were in the valley Elah;
or "by" it, near unto it; for they were set in array on the mountain on the side of it:

fighting with the Philistines;
not actually engaged in battle, but drawn up for it; prepared and in readiness to engage whenever it was necessary, or they were obliged to it; and perhaps there might be now and then some skirmishes in the outer parts of the camp.

17 Yī rì , Yēxī duì tā érzi Dàwèi shuō , nǐ ná yī yīfǎ hōng le de suì zǐ hé shí gè bǐng , sù sù dì sòng dào yíng lǐ qù , jiāo gĕi nǐ gēge men .

18 Zaì ná zhè shí kuaì nǎi bǐng , sòng gĕi tāmende qiā fū zhǎng , qiĕ wèn nǐ gēge men hǎo , xiàng tāmen yào yī fēng xìn lái .

20 Dàwèi zǎochen qǐlai , jiāng yáng jiāo tuō yī gè kānshǒu de rén , zhào zhe tā fùqin suǒ fēnfu de huà , daì zhe shíwù qù le . dào le zī zhòng yíng , jūn bīng gāng chū dào zhàn cháng , nà hǎn yào zhàn .
