1 Samuel 18:16

And all Israel and Judah loved David
The verb is singular, and denotes that everyone of them loved him in all the tribes of Israel, as well as in Judah his own tribe; in such general esteem was he, and so much had he got the hearts and affections of the people:

because he went out and came in before them;
the people, as in ( 1 Samuel 18:13 ) ; so the Septuagint version, in which, according to the Vatican copy, the verses ( 1 Samuel 18:17-19 ) are wanting.

14 Dàwèi zuò shì wú bù jīng míng , Yēhéhuá yĕ yǔ tā tóng zaì .

15 Sǎoluó jiàn Dàwèi zuò shì jīng míng , jiù shén pà tā .

16 Dàn Yǐsèliè hé Yóudà zhòngrén dōu aì Dàwèi , yīnwei tā lǐng tāmen chūrù .

17 Sǎoluó duì Dàwèi shuō , wǒ jiāng dà nǚér mǐ là gĕi nǐ wèi qī , zhǐyào nǐ wèi wǒ fèn yǒng , wèi Yēhéhuá zhēng zhàn . Sǎoluó xīnli shuō , wǒ bù hǎo qīn shǒu haì tā , yào jiè Fēilìshì rén de shǒu haì tā .

18 Dàwèi duì Sǎoluó shuō , wǒ shì shuí , wǒ shì shénme chū shēn , wǒ fù jiā zaì Yǐsèliè zhōng shì hédĕng de jiā , qǐ gǎn zuò wáng de nǚxù ne .
