5 Or il Signore Iddio degli eserciti è quel che, quando tocca la terra, ella si strugge, e tutti gli abitanti di essa fanno cordoglio; ed essa sale tutta, come un fiume; ed è sommersa, come per lo fiume di Egitto;

Amos 9:5

And the Lord God of hosts [is] he that toucheth the land, and
it shall melt
Which is another reason why it is impossible to escape the hands of a sin revenging God, because he is omnipotent as well as omniscient; he is the Lord of all the armies above and below; and if he but touch the land, any particular country, as the land of Israel, it shakes and trembles, and falls into a flow of water, or melts like wax; as when he toucheth the hills and mountains they smoke, being like fuel to fire; see ( Psalms 104:32 ) ( 144:5 ) ; and all that dwell therein shall mourn;
their houses destroyed, their substance consumed, and all that is near and dear to them swallowed up: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood, and shall be drowned as [by]
the flood of Egypt; (See Gill on Amos 8:8).

3 Ed avvegnachè si nascondessero in su la sommità di Carmel, io li investigherò e li torrò di là; ed avvegnachè si occultassero dal mio cospetto nel fondo del mare, di là comanderò al serpente che li morda.

4 E se vanno in cattività davanti a’ lor nemici, di là darò commissione alla spada che li uccida; e metterò l’occhio mio sopra loro in male, e non in bene.

5 Or il Signore Iddio degli eserciti è quel che, quando tocca la terra, ella si strugge, e tutti gli abitanti di essa fanno cordoglio; ed essa sale tutta, come un fiume; ed è sommersa, come per lo fiume di Egitto;

6 che edifica ne’ cieli le sue sale, e che ha fondata la sua fabbrica sopra la terra; che chiama le acque del mare, e le spande sopra la faccia della terra; il cui Nome è: Il Signore.

7 Non mi siete voi, o figliuoli d’Israele, come i figliuoli degli Etiopi? dice il Signore: come io trassi Israele fuor del paese di Egitto, non ho io altresì tratti i Filistei di Caftor, e i Siri di Chir?
