8 Com’è vero ch’io vivo, dice il Signore, l’Eterno, poiché le mie pecore sono abbandonate alla rapina; poiché le mie pecore, essendo senza pastore, servon di pasto a tutte le fiere de’ campi, e i miei pastori non cercano le mie pecore; poiché i pastori pascon se stessi e non pascono le mie pecore,

Ezekiel 34:8

As I live, saith the Lord
It is an oath, and which he swore in his wrath, being provoked with the shepherds for their misadministration: surely, because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to
every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd;
a prey to all the kingdoms of the people, being without a governor, as the Targum; or to false teachers, there being no spiritual pastors to take care of them: neither did my shepherds search for my flock;
that was scattered, and carried captive, and became a prey to others; even those that were of God's appointing, as the kings of Israel, their priests and prophets; for both their civil polity and ecclesiastical hierarchy were of God, though the ends thereof were not answered, or the persons put into office did not do their duty: but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock:

6 Le mie pecore vanno errando per tutti i monti e per ogni alto colle; le mie pecore si disperdono su tutta la faccia del paese, e non v’è alcuno che ne domandi, alcuno che le cerchi!

7 Perciò, o pastori, ascoltate la parola dell’Eterno!

10 Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Eccomi contro i pastori; io ridomanderò le mie pecore alle loro mani; li farò cessare dal pascere le pecore; i pastori non pasceranno più se stessi; io strapperò le mie pecore dalla loro bocca, ed esse non serviran più loro di pasto.
