Jeremiah 49:30 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 49:30

Flee, get you far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor,
saith the Lord
The same is said to the inhabitants of Dedan, (See Gill on Jeremiah 49:8); for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and
hath conceived a purpose against you:
had determined upon their destruction, and had consulted and contrived ways and means to effect it; and therefore, since so powerful an enemy had such a design upon them, it was high time to flee, and get as far off as they could, and hide themselves in the caverns of the earth.

Jeremiah 49:30 In-Context

28 Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hatzor, which Nevukhadretztzar king of Bavel struck. Thus says the LORD: Arise you, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.
29 Their tents and their flocks shall they take; they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, Terror on every side!
30 Flee you, wander far off, dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hatzor, says the LORD; for Nevukhadretztzar king of Bavel has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.
31 Arise, go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care, says the LORD; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone.
32 Their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil: and I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners [of their hair] cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, says the LORD.
