"The Leviticalpriests, the wholetribe of Levi, shall havenoportion or inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the LORD'Sofferings by fire and His portion.

"Now this shall be the priests'due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, either an oxor a sheep, of which they shall give to the priest the shoulder and the twocheeks and the stomach.

"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughterpass through the fire, one who usesdivination, one who practiceswitchcraft, or one who interpretsomens, or a sorcerer,

"You shall be blamelessbefore the LORD your God.

"For thosenations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practicewitchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.

"This is according to all that you asked of the LORD your God in Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hearagain the voice of the LORD my God, let me not seethisgreatfireanymore, or I will die.'

'I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymenlike you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.

'But the prophetwhospeaks a wordpresumptuously in My namewhich I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of othergods, that prophet shall die.'

"When a prophetspeaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thingwhich the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
