AndJesusreturnedin the power of the SpiritintoGalilee:and there went out a fameofhimthroughall the region round about.

Andhetaughtintheirsynagogues, being glorifiedofall.

And he cametoNazareth,where he had been brought up: and,ashiscustomwas, he went into the synagogueon the sabbathday,and stood up for to read.

And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophetEsaias.And when he had opened the book, he found the placewhere it waswritten,

The Spirit of the Lord is uponme,because he hath anointedme to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sentme to heal the brokenhearted*, to preachdeliverance to the captives,and recovering of sight to the blind, to setatliberty them that are bruised,

And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that werein the synagogue were fastened on him.

And he began to sayuntothem,Thisdayisthisscripturefulfilledinyourears.

Andallbarehimwitness, andwonderedat the graciouswordswhichproceeded out ofhismouth.And they said, IsnotthisJoseph'sson?

And he saiduntothem,Ye willsurelysay unto methisproverb,Physician,healthyself:whatsoever we have hearddoneinCapernaum,doalsohereinthycountry.

And he said, Verily I say unto you*, Noprophetisacceptedin his owncountry.

But I tellyouof a truth,manywidowswereinIsraelin the days of Elias,when the heaven was shut up*threeyearsandsixmonths,whengreatfaminewasthroughoutall the land;

Butuntonone of themwasEliassent, saveuntoSarepta, a city of Sidon,unto a woman that was a widow.
27
AndmanyleperswereinIsrael in the time of Eliseus the prophet;andnone of them was cleansed, savingNaaman the Syrian.

And all theyin the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

And rose up, and thrusthim out of the city,andledhimunto the brow[a] of the hillwhereon*theircity was built, that they might casthim down headlong.

Buthepassingthrough the midst of them went his way,

And came downtoCapernaum, a city of Galilee,andtaughtthem*on the sabbath days.

And they were astonishedathisdoctrine:forhiswordwaswithpower.

Andin the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an uncleandevil,and cried out with a loudvoice,

Saying, Let us alone;[b]what have we to do with thee*, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroyus? I knowtheewho thou art; the Holy One of God.

AndJesusrebukedhim,saying, Hold thy peace, andcome out ofhim.And when the devil had thrownhimin the midst, he came out ofhim, and hurthimnot.

And they wereall*amazed,andspakeamongthemselves,saying, What a word is this!forwithauthorityandpower he commandeth the uncleanspirits,and they come out.

And the fameofhim went outintoeveryplace of the country round about.

And he arose out of the synagogue, and enteredintoSimon'shouse.AndSimon's wife's motherwas taken with a greatfever;and they besoughthimforher.

And he stoodoverher, and rebuked the fever;and it lefther: and immediately she aroseandministered unto them.
40
Now when the sun was setting, all they thathad any sick with diversdiseasesbroughtthemuntohim;and he laid his handsoneveryone of them, and healedthem.

Anddevilsalsocame out ofmany, crying out, andsaying*, ThouartChrist the Son of God.And he rebuking them sufferedthemnot to speak:[c]for they knew that hewasChrist.

And when it wasday, he departed and wentinto a desertplace:and the peoplesoughthim,andcameuntohim,andstayedhim, that he should notdepartfromthem.

And he saiduntothem*, Imustpreach the kingdom of God to othercitiesalso:fortherefoream I sent.
