Zacharias 1:9

9 And I said, What are these, lord? And the angel spoke with me said to me, I will shew thee what these are.

Zacharias 1:9 Meaning and Commentary

Zechariah 1:9

Then said I, O my Lord
These are the words of the Prophet Zechariah to the angel that showed him this vision: what are these?
what is the meaning of this vision? particularly who are meant by the horses, red, speckled, and white, and those upon them? And the angel that talked with me;
who seems to be different from the Angel of the Lord, the man among the myrtle trees, ( Zechariah 1:8 Zechariah 1:10 Zechariah 1:11 ) he was one of the ministering spirits; see ( Revelation 17:1 ) ( 21:9 ) : said unto me, I will show thee what these [be];
that is, give an interpretation of the vision, and point out the persons intended by the horses.

Zacharias 1:9 In-Context

7 On the twenty-fourth in the eleventh month, this is the month Sabat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, the son of Barachias, the son of Addo, the prophet, saying,
8 I saw by night, and behold a man mounted on a red horse, and he stood between the shady mountains; and behind him were red horses, and grey, and piebald, and white.
9 And I said, What are these, lord? And the angel spoke with me said to me, I will shew thee what these are.
10 And the man that stood between the mountains answered, and said to me, These are whom the Lord has sent forth to go round the earth.
11 And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood between the mountains, and said, We have gone round all the earth, and, behold, all the earth is inhabited, and is at rest.
