1who were [a]born, not of [b]bloodnor of the will of the fleshnor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And 2the Word3becameflesh, and [c]4dweltamong us, and 5we saw His glory, glory as of [d]the onlybegotten from the Father, full of 6grace and 7truth.

John8testifiedabout Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, '9He who comesafter me [e]has a higherrank than I, 10for He existedbefore me.' "

For of His 11fullness[f]we have allreceived, and [g]grace upon grace.

For 12the Law was giventhroughMoses; 13grace and 14truth[h]were realizedthroughJesusChrist.

15Noone has seenGod at anytime; 16the onlybegottenGod who is 17in the bosom of the Father, 18He has explained Him.
The Testimony of John
19This is 19the testimony of John, when20the Jewssent to him priests and Levites21from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"

And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, "22I am not [i]the Christ."

They asked him, "Whatthen? Are you 23Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you 24the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."

Then they said to him, "Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you sayaboutyourself?"

He said, "I am 25A VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKESTRAIGHT THE WAY OF THE LORD,' as Isaiah the prophetsaid."
