13 Cuando Elías lo oyó, se cubrió la cara con su manto, salió y se paró a la entrada de la cueva.

—¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?

1 Kings 19:13

And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face
in his mantle
Through reverence of the divine Majesty he perceived was there, and through shame and confusion under a sense of his impurity, imperfections, and unworthiness, as the seraphim in ( Isaiah 6:2 Isaiah 6:3 ) , and as Moses, ( Exodus 3:6 ) , and went out and stood in the entering in of the cave; he attempted to come forth out of the cave upon the divine order, ( 1 Kings 19:11 ) , but was stopped by the terrible appearances of the wind, earthquake, and fire, a little within it; but now he came quite out, and stood at the mouth of it, to hear what the Lord would say unto him:

and, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, what dost thou
here, Elijah?
the same question is here put as in ( 1 Kings 19:9 ) , though there by an angel, here by the Lord himself.

11 El Señor
le dijo:
—Sal y ponte de pie delante de mí, en la montaña.
Mientras Elías estaba de pie allí, el Señor
pasó, y un viento fuerte e impetuoso azotó la montaña. La ráfaga fue tan tremenda que las rocas se aflojaron, pero el Señor
no estaba en el viento. Después del viento hubo un terremoto, pero el Señor
no estaba en el terremoto.

12 Pasado el terremoto hubo un incendio, pero el Señor
no estaba en el incendio. Y después del incendio hubo un suave susurro.

13 Cuando Elías lo oyó, se cubrió la cara con su manto, salió y se paró a la entrada de la cueva.
Entonces una voz le dijo:
—¿Qué haces aquí, Elías?

14 Él volvió a responder:
—He servido con gran celo al Señor
Dios Todopoderoso; pero el pueblo de Israel ha roto su pacto contigo, derribó tus altares y mató a cada uno de tus profetas. Yo soy el único que queda con vida, y ahora me buscan para matarme a mí también.

15 Entonces el Señor
le dijo:
—Regresa por el mismo camino que viniste y sigue hasta el desierto de Damasco. Cuando llegues allí, unge a Hazael para que sea rey de Aram.
