21 Todos ellos eran descendientes de las naciones que el pueblo de Israel no había destruido por completo.
Entonces Salomón les impuso trabajo forzado y los hizo parte de sus trabajadores, y en esa condición trabajan hasta el día de hoy;

1 Kings 9:21

Their children that were left after them in the land
The posterity of those left unsubdued in the times of Joshua:

whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy;
in later times, though now it is thought by some it was not for want of power, but because they had made a covenant with them, as the Gibeonites did, and therefore they could not, because it would have been a breach of covenant to have destroyed them; see ( 2 Chronicles 8:8 ) ,

upon these did Solomon levy a tribute of bond service unto this day;
not a tribute of money, which being poor they were not able to pay, but of service, and which being once laid on was continued, and even to the time of the writing of this book.

19 Construyó ciudades como centros de almacenamiento así como ciudades para sus carros de guerra y sus caballos.
Construyó todo lo que quiso en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y por todo su reino.

20 En esa tierra todavía había habitantes que no eran israelitas, entre los cuales se encontraban amorreos, hititas, ferezeos, heveos y jebuseos.

21 Todos ellos eran descendientes de las naciones que el pueblo de Israel no había destruido por completo.
Entonces Salomón les impuso trabajo forzado y los hizo parte de sus trabajadores, y en esa condición trabajan hasta el día de hoy;

22 pero Salomón no obligó a ningún israelita para el trabajo forzado, sino que los puso a su servicio como soldados, funcionarios de gobierno, oficiales y capitanes en su ejército, y comandantes y conductores de sus carros de guerra.

23 Salomón designó a quinientos cincuenta de ellos para que supervisaran a los trabajadores de sus diversos proyectos.
