Now therefore what is under thine hand?
&c.] Meaning, what food had he in his house?

give [me] five [loaves of] bread in mine hand;
to take with him, for him and his servants in such a place:

or what there is present;
or to be found ^F7 in the tabernacle; if not five loaves, two, or three, or four, or what food soever he had by him.

3 Ahora bien, ¿qué hay de comer? Dame cinco panes o cualquier otra cosa que tengas.

4 —No tenemos nada de pan común —respondió el sacerdote—. Pero aquí está el pan sagrado, el cual pueden comer si tus jóvenes no se han acostado con alguna mujer recientemente.

5 —No te preocupes —le aseguró David—. Nunca permito que mis hombres estén con mujeres cuando están en plena campaña. Y ya que se mantienen limpios, aun durante misiones normales, ¡cuánto más en esta!
