3 Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, atacó al rey Oseas, por eso Oseas se vio obligado a pagar un elevado tributo a Asiria.

2 Kings 17:3

Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria
Which some take to be the same with Tiglathpileser, see ( 1 Chronicles 5:26 ) but he rather seems to be his son; his name was to be found, as Josephus F23 relates, in the archives of the Tyrians, against whom he had an expedition; his name is Salmanassar in Metasthenes F24, who says he reigned seventeen years:

and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents,
to depart from him; he became tributary to him, and agreed to pay him a yearly tax.

1 Oseas gobierna en Israel
Oseas, hijo de Ela, comenzó a gobernar Israel durante el año doce del reinado de Acaz en Judá y reinó en Samaria nueve años.
2 Él hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor
, aunque no tanto como los reyes de Israel que gobernaron antes que él.
3 Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, atacó al rey Oseas, por eso Oseas se vio obligado a pagar un elevado tributo a Asiria.
4 Sin embargo, Oseas dejó de pagar el tributo anual y conspiró contra el rey de Asiria al pedirle a So, rey de Egipto,
que lo ayudara a liberarse del poder del rey de Asiria. Cuando el rey de Asiria descubrió la traición, tomó a Oseas por la fuerza y lo metió en la cárcel.
5 Samaria cae ante Asiria
Entonces el rey de Asiria invadió todo el territorio y sitió a la ciudad de Samaria durante tres años.
