Deuteronomio 23:1-8

Exclusión de la asamblea

1 »No podrá entrar en la asamblea del SEÑOR ningún hombre que tenga magullados los testículos o mutilado el pene.

2 »No podrá entrar en la asamblea del SEÑOR quien haya nacido de una unión ilegítima; tampoco podrá hacerlo ninguno de sus descendientes, hasta la décima generación.

3 »No podrán entrar en la asamblea del SEÑOR los amonitas ni los moabitas, ni ninguno de sus descendientes, hasta la décima generación.

4 Porque no te ofrecieron pan y agua cuando cruzaste por su territorio, después de haber salido de Egipto. Además, emplearon a Balán hijo de Beor, originario de Petor en Aram Najarayin,^[a] para que te maldijera.

5 Sin embargo, por el amor que el SEÑOR tu Dios siente por ti, no quiso el SEÑOR escuchar a Balán, y cambió la maldición en bendición.

6 Por eso, a lo largo de toda tu existencia no procurarás ni la paz ni el bienestar de ellos.

7 »No aborrecerás al edomita, pues es tu hermano. Tampoco aborrecerás al egipcio, porque viviste en su país como extranjero.

8 La tercera generación de sus descendientes sí podrá estar en la asamblea del SEÑOR.

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 23

Orders are here given to restrain certain persons from entering into the congregation of the Lord, De 23:1-8, and to take care that there be no unclean person in the camp, or any indecent thing done in it, De 23:9-14, to protect fugitive servants, and not deliver them up to their masters, De 23:15,16 not to suffer a filthy person to be among them, or any filthy thing to be brought into the house of God for a vow, De 23:17,18, then follow some laws against usury, and for the payment of vows, De 23:19-23, and the chapter is concluded with some directions how to behave in a neighbour's vineyard, or standing corn, De 23:24,25.
