28 En el momento de nacer, uno de los mellizos sacó la mano; la partera le ató un hilo rojo en la mano, y dijo: «Este salió primero».

Genesis 38:28

And it came to pass when she travailed
Her birth throes came strong and quick upon her: that [the one] put out [his] hand;
which showed that she was like to have a difficult and dangerous time of it; that the birth was not like to be according to the usual and natural order, which may be considered as a correction for her sin: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying,
this came out first;
she tied this to his wrist, that she might know whose hand it was, and so which was the firstborn; which, to know was a matter of consequence, since to the firstborn there were some special and peculiar privileges.

26 Judá los reconoció y declaró: «Su conducta es más justa que la mía, pues yo no la di por esposa a mi hijo Selá». Y no volvió a acostarse con ella.

27 Cuando llegó el tiempo de que Tamar diera a luz, resultó que tenía mellizos en su seno.

28 En el momento de nacer, uno de los mellizos sacó la mano; la partera le ató un hilo rojo en la mano, y dijo: «Este salió primero».

29 Pero en ese momento el niño metió la mano, y salió primero el otro. Entonces la partera dijo: «¡Cómo te abriste paso!» Por eso al niño lo llamaron Fares.

30 Luego salió su hermano, con el hilo rojo atado en la mano, y lo llamaron Zera.
