1 Reis 9:14 Meaning and Commentary

1 Kings 9:14

And Hiram sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents
of gold.
] Not after the cities had been given him, but before; and it may be rendered "had sent" F13, and is the sum of the gold he furnished him with for the temple, ( 1 Kings 9:11 ) which, according to Brerewood F14, was 540,000 pounds of our money; and, according to another F15 writer, it amounted to 1,466,400 ducats of gold, taking a talent at 12,220 ducats.

15 O rei Salomão impôs trabalhos forçados para que se construísse o templo do SENHOR, seu próprio palácio, o Milo, o muro de Jerusalém, bem como Hazor, Megido e Gezer.
16 O faraó, rei do Egito, havia atacado e conquistado Gezer. Incendiou a cidade e matou os seus habitantes, que eram cananeus, e a deu como presente de casamento à sua filha, mulher de Salomão.
