Psalm 29

HNV

MSG

1 <<A Psalm by David.>> Ascribe to the LORD, you sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
1 Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!"
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Worship the LORD in holy array.
2 In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power. Stand at attention! Dress your best to honor him!
3 The voice of LORD is on the waters. The God of glory thunders, even the LORD on many waters.
3 God thunders across the waters, Brilliant, his voice and his face, streaming brightness - God, across the flood waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful. The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
4 God's thunder tympanic, God's thunder symphonic.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Levanon.
5 God's thunder smashes cedars, God topples the northern cedars.
6 He makes them also to skip like a calf; Levanon and Siryon like a young wild ox.
6 The mountain ranges skip like spring colts, The high ridges jump like wild kid goats.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning.
7 God's thunder spits fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness. The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
8 God thunders, the wilderness quakes; He makes the desert of Kadesh shake.
9 The voice of the LORD makes the deer calve, And strips the forests bare. In his temple everything says, "Glory!"
9 God's thunder sets the oak trees dancing A wild dance, whirling; the pelting rain strips their branches. We fall to our knees - we call out, "Glory!"
10 The LORD sat enthroned at the Flood. Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.
10 Above the floodwaters is God's throne from which his power flows, from which he rules the world.
11 The LORD will give strength to his people. The LORD will bless his people with shalom.
11 God makes his people strong. God gives his people peace.
