Psalm 62

HNV

MSG

1 <<For the Chief Musician. On Yedutun. A Psalm by David.>> My soul rests in God alone. My yeshu`ah is from him.
1 God, the one and only - I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not?
2 He alone is my rock and my yeshu`ah, my fortress -- I will never be greatly shaken.
2 He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life.
3 How long will you assault a man, Would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
3 How long will you gang up on me? How long will you run with the bullies? There's nothing to you, any of you - rotten floorboards, worm-eaten rafters,
4 They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
4 Anthills plotting to bring down mountains, far gone in make-believe. You talk a good line, but every "blessing" breathes a curse.
5 My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my expectation is from him.
5 God, the one and only - I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not?
6 He alone is my rock and my yeshu`ah, my fortress. I will not be shaken.
6 He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life.
7 With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
7 My help and glory are in God
8 Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
8 So trust him absolutely, people; lay your lives on the line for him. God is a safe place to be.
9 Surely men of low degree are just a breath, And men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.
9 Man as such is smoke, woman as such, a mirage. Put them together, they're nothing; two times nothing is nothing.
10 Don't trust in oppression. Don't become vain in robbery. If riches increase, Don't set your heart on them.
10 And a windfall, if it comes - don't make too much of it.
11 God has spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongs to God.
11 God said this once and for all; how many times Have I heard it repeated? "Strength comes Straight from God."
12 Also to you, Lord, belongs lovingkindness, For you reward every man according to his work.
12 Love to you, Lord God! You pay a fair wage for a good day's work!
