7 But thou, terrible art thou! Who can stand before thee when once thy anger is roused?

It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?
8 From the heavens thou didst utter judgment; the earth feared and was still,

From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet—
9 when God arose to establish judgment to save all the oppressed of the earth. [Selah]

when you, God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land.
10 Surely the wrath of men shall praise thee; the residue of wrath thou wilt gird upon thee.

Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
11 Make your vows to the LORD your God, and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared,

Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.
12 who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is terrible to the kings of the earth.

He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth.
