2 Chronicles 12:2

And it came to pass in the fifth year of Rehoboam
In the fourth year, the apostasy of him and his people began; and, in the year following, what is next related happened, as a punishment of it:

Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;
of whom see ( 1 Kings 11:40 ) ( 14:25 ) ,

because they transgressed against the Lord;
transgressed the law of the Lord by falling into idolatry and other abominable evils; the Targum is,

``against the Word of the Lord.''

1 Quando Roboamo fu bene stabilito e fortificato nel regno, egli, e tutto Israele con lui, abbandonò la legge dell’Eterno.
2 E l’anno quinto del regno di Roboamo, Scishak re d’Egitto, salì contro Gerusalemme, perch’essi erano stati infedeli all’Eterno.
3 Egli avea milleduecento carri e sessantamila cavalieri; con lui venne dall’Egitto un popolo innumerevole di Libi, di Sukkei e di Etiopi;
4 s’impadronì delle città fortificate che appartenevano a Giuda, e giunse fino a Gerusalemme.
5 E il profeta Scemaia si recò da Roboamo e dai capi di Giuda, che s’erano raccolti in Gerusalemme all’avvicinarsi di Scishak, e disse loro: "Così dice l’Eterno: Voi avete abbandonato me, quindi anch’io ho abbandonato voi nelle mani di Scishak".
