Deuteronomio 11:12-22

12 paese del quale l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, ha cura, e sul quale stanno del continuo gli occhi dell’Eterno, del tuo Dio, dal principio dell’anno sino alla fine.

13 E se ubbidirete diligentemente ai miei comandamenti che oggi vi do, amando il vostro Dio, l’Eterno, e servendogli con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l’anima vostra,

14 avverrà ch’io darò al vostro paese la pioggia a suo tempo: la pioggia d’autunno e di primavera, perché tu possa raccogliere il tuo grano, il tuo vino e il tuo olio;

15 e farò pure crescere dell’erba ne’ tuoi campi per il tuo bestiame, e tu mangerai e sarai saziato.

16 Vegliate su voi stessi onde il vostro cuore non sia sedotto e voi lasciate la retta via e serviate a dèi stranieri e vi prostriate dinanzi a loro,

17 e si accenda contro di voi l’ira dell’Eterno, ed egli chiuda i cieli in guisa che non vi sia più pioggia, e la terra non dia più i suoi prodotti, e voi periate ben presto, scomparendo dal buon paese che l’Eterno vi dà.

18 Vi metterete dunque nel cuore e nell’anima queste mie parole; ve le legherete alla mano come un segnale e vi saranno come frontali tra gli occhi;

19 le insegnerete ai vostri figliuoli, parlandone quando te ne starai seduto in casa tua, quando sarai per viaggio, quando ti coricherai e quando ti alzerai;

20 e le scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle tue porte,

21 affinché i vostri giorni e i giorni de’ vostri figliuoli, nel paese che l’Eterno giurò ai vostri padri di dar loro, siano numerosi come i giorni de’ cieli al disopra della terra.

22 Poiché, se osservate diligentemente tutti questi comandamenti che vi do, e li mettete in pratica, amando l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, camminando in tutte le sue vie e tenendovi stretti a lui,

INTRODUCTION TO DEUTERONOMY 11

In this chapter, the exhortation to love the Lord, and keep his commands, is repeated and urged again and again from various considerations; as not only from the chastisement of Pharaoh and the wicked Egyptians, but of such Israelites who offended the Lord, and transgressed his law, De 12:1-7, from the goodness and excellency of the land they were going to inherit, De 11:8-11, from the blessing of rain that would come upon it, and be productive of all good things for man and beast, in case of obedience, and a restraint of it in case of disobedience, De 11:12-17, from the continuance of them and their offspring in the land, should they be careful to observe the commands themselves, and teach them their children, De 11:18-21, and from the extensiveness of their conquests and dominions, De 11:22-25 and from the different issue and effects of their conduct and behaviour, a blessing upon them if obedient, but a curse if disobedient, De 11:26-28 and the chapter is concluded with an exhortation to pronounce the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal; the situation of which places is described when they should come into the land of Canaan, of which they are assured, De 11:29-32.
