3 Voi non avete abbandonato i vostri fratelli durante questo lungo tempo, fino ad oggi, e avete osservato come dovevate il comandamento dell’Eterno, ch’è il vostro Dio.

Joshua 22:3

Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day,
&c.] For the space of fourteen years, which is the commonly received notion of the Jews ^F6; seven years according to them the land was subduing, and seven more spent in dividing it, and then these tribes were sent for and dismissed; all this time they stayed close by their brethren, and assisted them in their wars, and never offered to return to their wives and children, until they had an order from their general:

but have kept the charge of the commandment of the Lord your God;
for what both Moses and Joshua commanded them was from the mouth of the Lord; so that, in obeying them, they obeyed him.

1 Allora Giosuè chiamò i Rubeniti, i Gaditi e la mezza tribù di Manasse, e disse loro:

2 "Voi avete osservato tutto ciò che Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, vi aveva ordinato, e avete ubbidito alla mia voce in tutto quello che io vi ho comandato.

3 Voi non avete abbandonato i vostri fratelli durante questo lungo tempo, fino ad oggi, e avete osservato come dovevate il comandamento dell’Eterno, ch’è il vostro Dio.

4 E ora che l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, ha dato requie ai vostri fratelli, come avea lor detto, ritornatevene e andatevene alle vostre tende nel paese che vi appartiene, e che Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, vi ha dato di là dal Giordano.

5 Soltanto abbiate gran cura di mettere in pratica i comandamenti e la legge che Mosè, servo dell’Eterno, vi ha dato, amando l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, camminando in tutte le sue vie, osservando i suoi comandamenti, tenendovi stretti a lui, e servendolo con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l’anima vostra".
